Michael Burton is our new featured artist at The SoFo Tap, starting in September.

Michael is a painter living and working in Chicago. His work explores existential dread through current events and pop culture references.

Painting on recycled materials from the alleys, he reclaims his agency over a world constantly intruded on and defined by media. He creates an alternate reality, slightly off-kilter from our own, where the chaos of everydayness is combatted with the surrealism of child-like imagination. Often blending satire with critique, Michael positions himself as a sounding board for the 24-hour news cycle.
